ABOUT

Powerful, Entertaining and Dope are just a few words that describe Singer-Songwriter, April Sampe’.

A District of Columbia native, by way of Louisiana Creole country, Sampé delivers a funky swing of the southwith the stylish hip soul punch of the east.

In 2004, while performing along side Jazz Folk Artist, Stephanie Lightfoot, Sampé caught the attention ofJames Collins, the founder / musical architect of the then-dominate Jazz Fusion Band, Fertile Ground.

Sampé spent three years learning the professional ropes while touring in the states & abroad as a

supporting singer for Fertile Ground and Neo-Soul Artist, J-Soul; while cultivating her “Jazz-B-Hip Rock”stage presence at legendary nightclubs like Washington, DC’s Blues Alley for sold-out audiences. Takingnotice of Sampé, promoters began booking her as an opening act for super soul vocalist like, Dwele, Bilal, Maysa, India Arie, Erykah Badu, Jazmin Sullivan, the late Traci Braxton, Kenny Latimore, Elle Varner, Raheem Devaughn and music legends such as, Dionne Warwick, Patti LaBelle, Cameo, and Morris Day &The Time and many more.

The momentous highlight of Sampe’s career was her performing for President Barack Obama at the

Congressional Black Caucus Convention (Washington, DC - 2008 & 2009).

In 2014, Remy Martin V & DTLR Radio crowned Sampé “The Voice of the City” (Washington, DC). Since then, she has performed several times at the historical Howard Theater (Washington, DC), 2015 ArtScape Festival, the 2013 & 2014 African American Festival (Baltimore, MD), hosted 2015 Jazzy Summer Nights
